MAGIC BOOTS
I’m dustin’ me off…beautiful boots!
A while I’ve been on the shelf
My blue and red leathers need shinin’ up
Primping a shine of myself.
Been on hard rides in magical times
Especially with Flores La Due
The Calgary Stampede and other big shows
Bringing excitement to you.
We’ve stomped and told tales and stretched them a bit
Like the circular toss of her throw
We’ve spun the rope ‘round horse’s big bum
Even hanging from saddles, you know.
Shows came and they went, we had a good run
All finales lead to lights out
Advancing years stirred up the mix
Retiring me no doubt.
How did we get to a little small town?
Don’t remember when…
Up the stairs to a little girl’s room
Her feet had grown into them.
We grew and we changed telling stories so fine
Including my magical times
Trick riding and roping with Flores La Due
Her talents had honed a fine line.
Been given away, again and again
As much as we liked to have kicked
Helpless ‘til now of where we’d end up
We think we’ve got this thing licked.
We’ve always held magic to go where we want
If we learned to hit our stride
Somehow “got wind” of the old Unurban
And we pranced in there with pride.
For there’s songbirds in there and musicians too
Steppin’ with magic and voice
Everyone’s full of surprises and fun
Sharing the magic!….REJOICE!
